Park University To Host Training Session On Patient Protection And Affordable Care Act

NEWS RELEASE Suzanne Discenza, Ph.D., associate professor and director of Park's
Park University, in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will host a community ambassador training session?related to?the implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The session will take place on Friday, April 19, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the McCoy Meetin' House on the University's Parkville Campus.
Among the items to be discussed include: changes to Medicare and Medicaid; how families, individuals and small businesses can get affordable health insurance; new consumer protections for those with health insurance; financing the law and cost savings; and Missouri/Kansas specific information.
In addition, Molly Droge, M.D., F.A.A.P. (Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics), a board-certified pediatrician and child advocate, and chair of the of the National AAP Access to Care Sub-Committee, will speak on how the PPACA affects children's access to health care and health insurance.
